Review coverage before adding cameras
Camera numbers alone do not describe a system’s usefulness. Locations should be matched to entrances, circulation and the building manager’s needs, while actual lighting and viewing conditions are reviewed.
The assessment distinguishes maintenance faults from redesign needs. A failed camera, an obstruction and a point that has never had coverage require different decisions.
- Inventory of cameras, recorders and associated components.
- Review of image quality and availability at included points.
- Checks on recording and retrieval within the agreed scope.
- Identification of users, permissions and remote access needs.
Record, view and retrieve footage
The operations team needs to know who checks that the system is working, who can consult recordings and how incidents are reported. These responsibilities must be clear alongside the technical scope.
Storage capacity and configuration are assessed against the installation’s objectives. A recording retention period cannot be promised without knowing the camera count, settings, equipment and usage.
What a maintenance visit should deliver
The report should identify each point serviced, its condition and outstanding recommendations. If a fault depends on power or networking, the required coordination with the responsible team is documented.
Replacements and expansions are proposed according to compatibility and need. Maintenance can keep the existing installation operational; improving coverage or adding features requires a separately defined scope.
Prepare information for the assessment
Provide the address, approximate number of cameras, recording type and observed problem. For a new installation, describe entrances, operating hours and the people who need to use the system.
URBANARC coordinates CCTV with access control and facilities maintenance in CABA and Greater Buenos Aires. The proposal defines equipment, tasks, responsibilities, service conditions and recommendations for using the system.
Frequently asked questions
Do you service existing IP cameras?
The system, documentation and compatibility are assessed. The survey confirms which devices can be included in maintenance and which need specific work.
Does maintenance include continuous monitoring?
These are different scopes. Technical support for cameras and recorders is not a monitoring center; any operational monitoring coverage must be specified in the proposal.
Can CCTV be integrated with access control?
Integration is assessed against the installed equipment and operational objectives. Compatibility and responsibilities must be confirmed before defining the project.
